Overview

The goal of Scrammed! is to score more points than the other players. Players take turns to make a move.

Moves are made by placing tiles from your hand onto the board, in either a horizontal or vertical connected run.

A run can be up to 6 consecutive tiles (but it may be as few as two).

You can navigate help topics using the Next and Prev buttons. Use the Back button (top right) to return to your game.

Horizontal move

In a horizontal move all pieces must be the same color, and all numbers must be different.

Horizontal move [continued]

That was a horizontal move. As you can see, each piece moved was the same color (yellow), and there is no repeated number in the yellow run 1, 5, 2, 3.

The move connected with tiles on the board (the yellow two was already there). Moves must join up with the board in at least one place (except for the first move of the game).

Vertical move

In a vertical move all pieces must be the same number, and all colors must be different.

Vertical move [continued]

That was a vertical move. Each piece moved was the same number (one), and there is no repeated color in the vertical run of ones (yellow, green, purple, orange, red).

The connection to the board was made at the yellow one.

Moving a Piece

To move a piece to the board, or from one board square to another:

  1. Click the piece you want to move (it will then be highlighted in white)
  2. Select an empty board square
  3. The piece will move to that square, highlighted in red if an incomplete move

Try it now. When you are ready move on with Next.

Returning a Piece to the Hand

There are two ways to move a piece from the board back to your hand (before a play is finished):

  1. Double click the piece on the board you want to move back to your hand, OR
  2. Click the little "x" at the top middle of the piece.

This works for pieces that you placed on the board this move. Try it!

Control Buttons

There are three buttons that you will use during a move; Complete Reset and Pass.

  1. The Complete button ends your turn when you are happy with the move you have made.
  2. The Reset button will move all hand tiles from the board back to your hand - a sort of "start again" button for a move.
  3. The Pass button ends your turn without making any move at all (perhaps there is no move to make)

Each button is only visible under certain conditions. Try it out!

Scoring

After each move you earn points. Each run of tiles you have added to is scored as follows:

  1. Each tile in the run counts for 1 point (the whole run, not just your new tiles).
  2. If you complete a run of 6 tiles you get 12 points - 1 for each tile and a bonus of 6.
  3. If you place a tile on the bonus squares (the stars), the points for that run are doubled.
  4. A tile counts more than once if it is in two new runs.

Place the green five from your hand under the yellow five. You score five points: two for the new vertical run yellow 5, green 5, plus three for the new horizontal run green 1, green 5, green 2.

Bonuses

On this board you can place the yellow four at either end of the run of yellow tiles.

Your (impressive) score of 18 is made up as follows:

  1. 1 point per tile in a run of 6 (6 points).
  2. A bonus of 6 points for completing a run of 6 tiles (making 12 points).
  3. Another bonus of 6 points because you placed the yellow four on a bonus sqaure.

Note the small number 18 near where you place the tile: this is a running total of what your move is currently worth. When you press Complete this total is added to your actual score.

To return to a real game hit the Back tab at top-right.

Maximise Score

Placing a few tiles that connect with the board in several places is frequently the best way to score.

Observe this board. The best score you can make on it is 11. How?

Play the green five under the yellow five, the green two under the yellow two, then the green three, and finally the green four to the right of the green six. The score is made up of:

  1. 5 points for the green horizontal run (5, 2, 3, 6, 4).
  2. 2 points for each vertical run: yellow five, green five; yellow two, green two; yellow three, green three. 6 + 5 = 11 points.

Seeing last moves

Cick on any players name to see their last move outlined. Click again to remove the outline.

In this Help game you are the only player, and you will have to Complete a move first.
